Ireland data-centre electricity use
Ireland’s Central Statistics Office publishes metered electricity consumption for data centres. It reports that they used 7,663 GWh in 2025, 23% of all metered electricity. In 2015 the share was 5%.

Consumption grew every year in the series, and was about 6.2 times higher in 2025 than in 2015 (calculated). The 2025 increase of 10% was slower than the jumps of 2021 (32%) and 2022 (31%) (calculated).

Data centres and households
In 2025, all residential electricity use, urban and rural, made up 28% of metered consumption, compared with 23% for data centres. Urban households used 18% and rural households 9%. The CSO also notes that household demand peaks in winter because of heating and lighting, while data-centre consumption tends to increase every quarter.
One campus in the numbers: Meta Clonee
Meta publishes annual electricity use for its campus at Clonee, County Meath. It is a single company-reported campus total, not a share of the national figure.
